Polymer modified bitumen HI BOND is specially formulated using preferred Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) from KRATON modifiers and additives to improve high and low temperature properties of asphalt binders. The selection of the grade is according to traffic level. The Type of HI BOND is according to project design and traffic level
Stiffen binder and asphalt mix at high temperatures to reduce rutting
Soften binder at low service temperature
Allow asphalt to recover after loading
Recovery allows asphalt to withstand pavement distresses
Improve fatigue resistance
Improve durability with thicker asphalt binder films
Reduce moisture damage
Resistance to moisture
PMBs are generally a stable product but they are prone to separation due to multiple reheating cycles during storage.
It is necessary for PMB to be stored in rock wool insulated storage tanks with controlled oil heating system and motorized automatic oil valves to set the desired temperature
Provide sufficient no agitators (bottom up) with automatic control and agitation time setting to ensure homogenous dispersion of polymer and bitumen, to avoid phase separation.
For short term storage for up to 72 hours 160- 180 °C
For intermediate storage (72-120 hours), drop the temperature gradually to between 150 - 180° C with agitation
For long term storage (More than 120 hours) switch off
Mixing and compaction temperatures from the binder's viscosity temperature chart or from supplier recommendation
The manufacturers recommended mixing temperature varies between 165-175° c
The recommended compaction temperature is not less than 140° C
Refer to safety data sheet
Contamination during transportn
Direct flame for heating road tankers or PMB storage tanks
Torch heating of tanker discharge pipe and valve
